For the past
19 years, Mission for Vision has successfully provided quality eye care for India’s rural poor by supporting over 1,60,000 free eye surgeries.
Even as we restored the vision of a millionth patient in 2011, our founder’s have a new dream –
to become the largest eye care partnership in the world with a hospital in each Indian state.
Our Vision
2020 is to partner with
25 eye hospitals in 20 States of India, which will have a capacity to perform
2,50,000 free eye surgeries annually.
MFV partners with best eye institutions – Sankara Eye Care Institutions, Shankar Nethralaya, Tulsi Eye Hospital, Sankara Eye Hospital - Chennai, Nirmal Mission Eye Hospital, Bhojraj Eye Hospital, Sankara Eye Hospital - Kolkata, Mission For Vision - Nigeria, Sankardev Nethralaya - Guwahati, Sri Sankara Nethralaya - Tirupati
To assess the impact of the eye care programme, a
dedicated Patient Care Team was constituted in early 2008. Each of the partner hospitals has a dedicated Patient Care Coordinator whose job is to ensure the highest level of care to the patient, be it at the camp, during transit or at the hospital. The team conducts an ongoing evaluation with the parameters constantly being modified and improved.
In the next 10 years, MFV will
focus on poverty stricken North and North East region of India, which does not have any resources or infrastructure for quality eye care for rural poor. With partner hospitals in
Rishikesh and West Bengal, MFV aims to establish a new hospital every 18 months.
